About

Hi I’m Chris, your Virtual Motorsport Mentor. Pretty much a full blown motorsport geek, I grew up watching motorsport and regularly going to Barbagallo Raceway as a young kid. I loved watching supercars in the early 2000s, and Bathurst weekend was always such a thrill to look forward to.

Mount Panorama - Virtual Motorsport Mentor

I’d always had a love for motorsports but didn’t realise just how passionate I was about it until a lot later in my life.  So much so that I knew I wanted it to be part of my everyday life, but I wasn’t sure how I was going to make that happen. At least not without a big bag of money!

I started out on PC Sim Racing with EA Sports V8 Challenge in late 2004 and then progressed to the Toca Touring series as they released each sequel.  I had fun with these, but they didn’t quite scratch that itch.

Life moved on, and motorsport sort of took a back seat for a while as I grew through my teenage years and young adulthood. Other things were more important. You know…friends, girlfriends, parties, drinking, playing in a band, getting a job, first car, second car….you get the drift.

As I matured I realised how much I missed racing, although I did get a regular hit from a little dirt kart action. Fast forward to December 2015, I discovered iRacing while searching online. What…wait they started back in 2008…damn I can’t believe I’d missed out on so much racing time. But better late than never right.

Dirt Kart Racing - Virtual Motorsport Mentor

This platform was absolutely brilliant and just what I was looking for. I was hooked from the moment I drove out of the pits for the first time!

Its funny to me now, but in the beginning I thought I was a lot faster than I really was. Needless to say it was humbling to learn I wasn’t quite “all that” after all. And I was a little overwhelmed with how realistic and intense the software was. I was cocky and can’t believe how stupid I made myself look. I’m sure I’m not the first person to admit this and I probably won’t be the last.

This is part of the reason why I started Virtual Motorsport Mentor.

I want to help people who are looking for training, guidance & advice to become smarter, better, faster drivers. There is an awful lot to learn and it takes quite some time. Trying to work it all out on your own, can be confusing and overwhelming. It can be super hard to get on track, never mind being competitive.

For me, I was lucky enough to get involved with a group of guys that really were fantastic and gave me a lot of knowledge and support. This helped me to progress with my skills and got me up to speed very quickly.

When I first started with them I was 7 Seconds off there pace….Yep that’s right…7 Seconds! It felt like a lifetime. But within just 3 short months I was up to their speed.

By 2016 season 2 I’d won the Div 6 blancpain GT3 Sprint & Endurance Championship. It truly was an awesome feeling. All the hard work I put in and the assistance & support I received really paid off.

Sadly the team didn’t stay together. But some great friendships grew from the team. I still work and talk with some of them drivers to this day.

After the team dissolved, I bounced around a couple of teams off and on, but just never found a comfort level that was happy with, plus I was finding it hard to achieve the results I desired. I wanted something more.

Fast forward to June 2018 I wanted to take on more responsibilities and decided it was time to try to recreate the culture I experienced in my early days of iRacing. There was only one clear answer. Form my own team.

Allusion Motorsport - Virtual Motorsport Mentor

Alliance Simsports was born and we mostly ran in the Anzcar series. Towards the the end of 2018 I rebranded the team under the name Allusion Motorsport, expanded our driver lineup and took to the track in additional series’s.

It’s been a great journey so far, and in 2019 we had a super successful first full year as a team. You can check out the major results here.

Coming into 2020 the demands of running a team alongside trying developing Virtual Motorsport Mentor were getting very difficult to manage. I was not giving either my best, and I felt it would be better to focus my energy on my main goal…helping simulator drivers become better racers.

So I made the difficult decision to close down the Allusion Motorsport Team. We worked well as a team and had some great races together, but it was time to move forward in a more focussed direction.

After a solid 5 years honing my skills, I now feel I’m in a position to help others, so I’m all in on Virtual Motorsport Mentor and am loving every moment.

I created this platform to help drivers develop their skills and get the support and feedback they need to improve their drivelines, speed, setup’s and more.

Whether you’re a beginner, intermediate or advanced, there is always something to learn or improve. Everytime you get in the simulator its a opportunity to learn and gain new skills. My goal is to see you become the best driver you can be. The question is…How far do you want to take it?

I look forward to helping YOU..Drive Fast & Win More!
